Cheese and wine has always been a delicious (and still very cool) match. While a classic, this one isn't going away.

The subtle tang of a young goat cheese is great with crisp white wines, and when mature... our soft-ripened cheeses can stand up to full bodied reds and even port. To find a "pairing", taste for combinations that highlight the best qualities of both the wine and cheese. The most important thing to remember is, if you like a pairing... it's a good one.

      Hosting a Pairing Party?

      If you plan to host a pairing party, we recommend choosing 3-5 cheeses (maximum) to taste with a small number of wine selections. Herere a few tips on how to get started:

      • Start by allowing the cheese to reach room temperature. Nothing kills the flavor of a fine goat milk cheese like pulling it straight from the refrigerator.
      • Now, smell the cheese and then the wine.
      • Take a bite of the cheese and before swallowing it, take a sip of wine, and allow the two to marry in your mouth.
      • Swallow and breath deeply through your nose. Ask yourself, "Are they better together?" If not, throw the bottle out the window. Kidding... just making sure you are reading this.
      • If you like, take notes after each pairing so that you remember the differences during your tasting. We've created a fun placemat and pairing guide to use, or you can create your own.

      Wine and cheese pairings, while subjective, can be fun to share with family and friends. Encourage guests to find descriptive words to identify what they are tasting, and above all, dont take things too seriously. We like to have fun here at Cypress Grove.
